Canoeing Down the Cuyahoga

On Sunday afternoon, August 15th, a group of 21 hearty

souls boarded canoes and kayaks in Hiram, Ohio and

embarked on a 7 mile journey down the Upper

Cuyahoga River. The scenery was spectacular and the

river was a bit higher than it was last year, making for an

eventful trip.

The weather forecast called for a 30% chance of

thunderstorms. What this meant was the trip would be

70% dry and 30% wet. About 5 miles into the trip, the

skies opened and everyone was soaked with a warm and

pleasant summer rain. But as quickly as the rain came, it

left, and we finished in the sunshine.

A great time was had by all (maybe with 1 exception)

and we look forward to doing this again next year.

Project Unveiling
On Sunday morning, August 22nd, we unveiled our plans
and a model of a proposed worship center to be
constructed on the MacKenzie Road property. David
Krebs, our architect, joined us for worship and led us
through the plans his firm developed from our input.
This initial unveiling was followed by a series of
meetings where we could share with one another what
we thought about the vision and ask pertinent questions
about the plans.
We were amazed at the unified excitement of our
spiritual family and the minimal concerns that were
expressed. May God continue to guide us and protect us

as we journey together towards His will for us.

Open-Air Worship & Picnic

Sunday, September 12th, will be our annual open-air

worship and picnic. This is always a good wrap-up to

summer and a good chance to enjoy the beauty of nature

and the “country feel” of Olmsted Township.

This year, worship will begin at 11:00 a.m. (instead of

the normal 10:30 a.m.) and our service will take us right

into our pot luck picnic lunch. As in previous years, we

will provide the hot dogs, hamburgers, plates, utensils

and drinks and we need every family to bring side dishes

and deserts to share.

Also, don’t forget to bring a portable, comfortable lawn

chair for every member of your family. We will need

these as we worship under the trees in God’s cathedral.

Please fell free and encouraged to bring along a friend or

family member as we celebrate the Lord’s goodness and

enjoy some good food and fellowship together.

Outreach Workshop

Our elders have determined that we, as a spiritual family,

could use training and encouragement in the area of

outreach and sharing our faith in Jesus with people we

know. To that end we have invited Barry Atwell to be

with us on Sunday, 9/26 through Tuesday, 9/28.

Barry has led multiple outreach workshops and has a

personal passion for evangelism. He will share with us the importance of

outreach and provide us with some useful tools and

experience to help us grow in this area of our ministry.

Please plan to take advantage of this opportunity.
